Red-winged Blackbird. Has cool orange and yellow racing stripes :)
It's a dragonfly parking lot!
Bewick's Wren and an Anna's Hummingbird with IntenseFace
Better view of the Blackbird's wing.
It’s officially baby season at Swan Lake! So many little ducks and geese. The ducklings, at least, have little wings to flap when they run, but the geese are left with nothing but little nubs. It makes them look like fuzzy veloceraptors when then move. Creepy and cute at the same time. There was a turkey vulture soaring in circles above. Daaamn, those things look big when they fly :s
There is a bench by the nature house, almost invisible from the path, especially now that the grass is so high. It’s a perfect spot to sit and listen in the breeze. Ahhhhhhh. I think I might go back tomorrow.
Well, Stanley Park, really. We couldn’t have asked for a ncer day to walk around. I didn’t need my coat all day. It was glorious! I made the trip up for Bailey’s birthday, and it was definitely worth not sleeping much. (ha) We spent hours roaming the park, and eating deliciously greasy fried food from the concession stand. Fish and chips ftw!
There was a stream that had interesting bubble arches forming where water was falling, and a neat curved tree with water reflecting the light back up. We met a tourist from Scotland, and told him to go to Stuart’s Bakery at Granville Island. (You should go there too.) We planned adventures and photo ideas, too. (We need to make a day of it this summer.)
It’s hard to believe that this is March. It only gets warmer from here.
I am behind in processing photos, holy cow. My mum came to visit this weekend, which was AWESOME seeing as it was my birthday, but can you believe I didn’t take a single picture? We just had too much fun visiting :)
Since I am so far behind, here is a picture of a confused goose.
So, it’s been way longer than I thought it had been. Oops! I haven’t had a proper day out in a while, but here’s a little of what I’ve been up to:
Making my own stationery
I love ocean sunsets as much as desert ones
Enjoying a sunset
Eric's biz cards for his site
It looks like the WB is off, but the wall is just a really weird colour
"I will take the ring!"
The last one also shows that we just rewatched the Lord of the Rings movies (Regular, not extended cut. That will be another weekend, I think.) I definitely <3 those films. Not just because they still look awesome ten years later, but for me, it’s impressive for what went on behind the scenes. The army of crew and extras. It’s truly an epic set of movies.
Okay! Soon I will have a -related- bunch of pictures. Happy Tuesday!
Today I was shown a small but awesome sea glass beach in Sidney. I think I’m addicted. No pictures of that, because I was busy filling up my ice cream bucket with pieces of awesome :D But we also stopped off at Island View Beach to explore a bit, and drove all the way to the top of ” The Centre of the Universe” where you have an amazing view all the way around. Oh, and lunch at an awesome place called Bad Betty’s. Much better than staying at home, eh? Now, all this beach walking has me tired, so BED.
We had wind gusts up to 50 km/hr yesterday, which made for some awesome waves. Sometimes sneaky waves that catch you off guard if you don’t see them coming. Brrr. Bailey and I managed to stay pretty dry and keep our cameras safe. Eric went down the stairs and got splashed, and he and Braden walked out on the breakwater. Good thing his coat is water repellant! At one of the beaches, the wind was so strong that Bailey and I had to lean forward a bit as we took pictures. It wasn’t quite strong enough to blow us away, but it was definitely enough to make us lose our balance. Our fingers got stiff, but it was totally worth it. Kind of exhilarating :)
