He's patient and happy to hang out with her, even when they get into a bath fight (grooming+wrestling extravaganza). He's teaching her the best places to nap and scratch, and also how to wake me up by playing on me until I give in and get out of bed 😸 I'm so glad they're besties. Our old man is doing a bit better now, thankfully. Our old man is doing a bit better now, thankfully. Still has a way to go, but I don't have to be quite so vigilant. He's taken all these vet checkups like a champ, including thermometers in unpleasant places 😅. He's old, and if we can make his body a bit less irritated he'll be napping in sunbeams and leaving fur on my shirts for a few years yet. All of these things are true: we love him so much. I'm exhausted. I am better equipped to deal with stuff like this than I used to be. Crying is cathartic. I will feed him with food scooped on my finger any time he needs me to. She has already accepted Magnus's offer of friendship, though Cinna is gonna take some convincing 😅 (we're taking it nice and slooow so Cinna-butt isn't stressed out.) Our girl is gone. 💔 Her last day was blessed wi Our girl is gone. 💔 Her last day was blessed with sunbeams, treats, and as much love as we could give her. She's been sick for a long time, and it was time to let go - she was ready. She was so small, but her personality was huge. We have a crater in our hearts where she fit. The house is littered with holes where here chats used to be, where she liked to nap, where she would hang out while I brushed my teeth. Grief is a sneaky bitch. Dinner time is very hard - there's no more need for the fourth bowl, or medication time. I am so grateful for Bryanne at South Island Mobile Vet for the house call so she could pass surrounded by all the right smells and her family. No more pain, no more suffering. Except for us. I'm also so thankful for my cat-friends. This last week has been extremely hard, knowing it was time and waiting for the appointment so she could finally rest and your support has meant so much. ❤️ We know that this is what you sign up for when you invite pets into your life. This pain is so so hard, but it's balanced by years and years of love, cuddles, and joy.
