Zeke is a giant bouncing ball of energy. Making beer is time-consuming. It’s pretty hot today.

There is so much textural contrast in downtown Victoria. I kinda love it.
It’s a rare day when she sits still long enough for me to get a mostly clear shot. (mostly – she couldn’t resist grooming me). Marty is featured in more photos mostly because he sits still better and follows me around a lot, unlike Tobers who hides somewhere to sleep. She’s always happy for the attention, she’s just a blur while she’s with you <3
Sometimes the light does a thing, and you have to take some photos. [Mostly makeup-free, just concealer.]
Well, June certainly flew by! It feels like it started just yesterday, but suddenly it’s July 4th already.
Some of the things I’ve been doing:
- enjoying the sunshine
- coaxing the garden
- writing fiction
- hosting visitors
- creating an embroidery pattern and art line (!!!) that will be released this week
- taking care of myself
June was both wonderful and quite difficult at the same time. Here’s hoping that July repeats only the best parts of June ;)
I will admit to sometimes being quite grumpy about allergies. The congestion and headaches and sneezing erode any goodwill I have towards nature. But when I see how big and beautiful the garden gets after a few days of rain, I can put aside my bitterness about the itchy eyes for a while.
Well, June seems to have snuck up on me! The weather has been mostly wonderful, with beautiful sunny days (like above), and a few drizzly days too. The city’s gardens are bursting with flowers, making a wander in the park even nicer than usual.
On the not-so-nice days, there’s plenty to play with inside. I set up a flash in the living room and surprised the cats one day. They weren’t too impressed with the flashing, but the treats made everything okay!
In other news, I’ve been working on my various creative pursuits (because I can’t just pick one). A lot of what I’ve been making lately is gifts that I can’t show yet (!!!), and I need to remember to get photos of my massive king-sized tee shirt blanket that I (finally) finished. My garden is doing well too, especially after ignoring it for a few days and some rain showers. One of these days I’ll get a more cohesive post up, but until then, see ya!
Sunset from New West. Perfect.
Warm days are becoming more common, which means an outside break at lunch is so, so necessary.
Today is Allan’s birthday, so we went on an adventure to surprise him for lunch. Afterward, we took a walk at Roberts Memorial Park – and proceeded to get muddy. Zeke had fun frolicking, even after he slipped on the sandstone. We even ran into (almost literally) two tiny snakes. Thankfully the rain held off until just after we got back to the car. The drive back down home was pretty good. Even with the sections of pouring rain, the hills looked beautiful with the misty clouds tangled in the trees. Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday.
